About the Class

Ever notice you spend a lot of time with your body doing one thing but your mind being someplace else? Ever wish you could find a way to re-balance? To re-connect with yourself? To be more present in your life?

Meditation can be defined as "Maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment." Studies have indicated that when meditation is practiced on a consistent basis that it can benefit the immune system, improve attention and memory, and increase the density of gray matter in the brain.

Guided meditation is simply "meditation with the help of a guide". It's one of the easiest ways to enter into a state of deep relaxation and inner stillness, and is one of the most powerful ways to eliminate stress and bring about positive personal changes.

The class in the chapel lasts approximately 25 minutes. It starts with a short philosophical reading from various practitioners such as Pema Chodren, Jon Kabat-Zinn or Thich Nhat Hanh followed by 20 minutes of silent meditation.

Meditation is held every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 to 12:30 pm in the Chapel. Everyone is welcome!
