Simple Steps You Can Take to Get Active The connection between physical activity and health is well established. But being active doesn't have to mean joining a gym or an exercise class. There are simple ways to increase your physical activity and improve both your physical and mental well-being. Here are some examples: 

  • Take 15 minutes at lunch to go for a walk - will benefit your body, clear your head and help to relieve stress.
  • Take a few minutes to stretch between meetings
  • Say no to the elevator and take the stairs instead
  • Don't worry about parking, ride your bike or walk to work

YMCA of Kingston is offering KGH staff an "All Inclusive Family Membership" for $108.99 +HST monthly with no activation fee and kids' swimming lessons and youth recreation included.  KGH staff can also take advantage of an extra 1/2 hour of personal training each month, 6 guest passes each year, and access to CPFLA Fitness Assessments.  Visit www.kingston.ymca.ca for more information about the YMCA facilities, classes, and Kingston locations.  

HDH Site Fitness Centre now open to KHSC staff. Staff can purchase a membership to the Centre, open 24 hours a day, for the low fee of $40 per year. The Fitness (cardiovascular and strength) and change rooms, Body bars, weights, steps, bands and fitness balls are available for use. There is also a TV with VCR and DVD connections for those who wish to bring a workout videoRegistration is through the HDH site Occupational health Department located on Mary Alice 2, between the hours of 8 am-4pm.
